Daily sun protection is one of the most important steps in an effective skincare routine. UV radiation can contribute to sunburn, pigmentation, loss of firmness, wrinkles and premature skin ageing. Broad-spectrum sunscreen helps protect against both UVA and UVB radiation:

• UVA radiation contributes to skin ageing, pigmentation and skin damage.
• UVB radiation is a major cause of sunburn and immediate sun damage.

No sunscreen blocks all UV radiation. Combine sunscreen with protective clothing, shade and sensible sun behaviour.

Which sunscreen suits your skin?

Dry or dehydrated skin
Choose a comfortable sunscreen with hydrating and conditioning ingredients.

Oily or combination skin
Select a lightweight, non-greasy fluid or gel cream. A non-comedogenic formula can be preferable for skin prone to congestion.

Sensitive or reactive skin
Choose a gentle formula specifically suitable for sensitive skin. Patch-test a new product if the skin reacts easily.

Pigmentation and melasma
Daily SPF50 protection is essential. A tinted sunscreen can be particularly useful when it also offers protection against visible light.

Mature skin
Choose a hydrating broad-spectrum sunscreen that layers comfortably over serums and anti-ageing products.

After professional treatments
The skin can be particularly vulnerable after a peel, Nanopen, microneedling, laser or IPL treatment. Follow the skincare professional’s advice and avoid intensive sun exposure.

Understanding SPF

SPF mainly indicates the level of protection against UVB radiation when a sufficient amount is applied.

• SPF15: limited to medium daily protection.
• SPF30: high protection for everyday use.
• SPF50 or SPF50+: very high protection for fair skin, pigmentation, intensive sun and post-treatment care.

A higher SPF does not mean that less product is needed or that reapplication can be skipped.

Directions for use

Apply sunscreen every morning as the final step in the skincare routine and before make-up. Apply generously and evenly approximately 15 to 30 minutes before going outdoors.

Reapply at least every two hours when outdoors and always after swimming, perspiring, towel-drying or intensive exercise. Choose a water-resistant product for swimming and water activities.

Two finger lengths of sunscreen is a practical guideline for the face and neck. Do not forget the ears, hairline, neck and décolleté.

5. Moisturiser if required
6. Sunscreen
7. Make-up

Do not mix sunscreen with serum, moisturiser, foundation or tanning drops. Mixing may create an uneven protective layer and reduce the protection achieved.

Especially important with active ingredients

Daily SPF50 is particularly important when using:

• Retinol and other vitamin A products
• Glycolic, lactic and other AHA acids
• Salicylic acid and BHA
• PHA exfoliants
• Pigmentation-targeting serums
• Professional resurfacing treatments

Important advice

Sunscreen does not allow unlimited time in the sun. Avoid intense midday sunlight, wear protective clothing and seek shade regularly. Excessive UV exposure presents a serious health risk.
