Ekseption Skincare for Dehydrated and Tight-Feeling Skin
Dehydrated skin lacks water and may feel tight, rough, dull or less supple. Fine dehydration lines and flaking may also become more visible. Dehydration can affect every skin type, including oily and blemish-prone skin.
Ekseption combines water-binding ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin and panthenol with soothing and caring ingredients. These help hydrate the skin, improve comfort and limit excessive moisture loss.
What is the difference between dry and dehydrated skin?
Dry skin naturally produces insufficient sebum and lipids. In addition to hydration, it primarily requires nourishing ingredients and lipid-rich care.
Dehydrated skin temporarily lacks water. It can occur in dry, normal, combination or oily skin. Oily, dehydrated skin may feel tight while appearing shiny at the same time.
A hydrating serum is generally not sufficient on its own. A suitable moisturiser helps retain the added moisture within the skin.
What can cause dehydration?
• Cold, wind, sun and temperature changes.
• Central heating, air conditioning and low humidity.
• Very hot showers or cleansing water.
• Harsh or strongly foaming cleansers.
• Excessive exfoliation or layering too many active ingredients.
• Retinol, acids and peels without sufficient recovery care.
• A weakened skin barrier.
• Insufficient hydrating and caring skincare.
Which Ekseption products suit dehydrated skin?
Hyaluronic B5 Mixlab Serum
A hydrating serum containing hyaluronic acid and panthenol. It helps bind moisture and suits dehydrated, tight or sensitive skin. A suitable foundation beneath almost any appropriate Ekseption cream.
Hyaluronic Ectoin Mixlab Serum
A serum containing hyaluronic acid, ectoin and niacinamide. It hydrates and supports sensitive or visibly red skin. Suitable when dehydration occurs alongside irritation or a weakened skin barrier.
Skin Relief Fluid
A lightweight serum for sensitive, delicate and visibly red skin. It helps soothe and hydrate skin that feels uncomfortable or reactive because of dehydration.
Hydration Sparkle
A hydrating maintenance cream for dehydrated skin that helps keep the complexion supple, fresh and comfortable. Apply it after a hydrating serum to help retain moisture.
Age-Less Cocoon
A caring cream for normal to dry skin. Suitable when dehydration occurs alongside dryness, fine lines or visible signs of skin ageing.
White-Up Sorbet
A hydrating and brightening cream for all skin types. A suitable choice when dehydration occurs alongside dullness, uneven tone or pigmentation. Always apply sunscreen during the day.
Caviar Liquid Mask
A hydrating mask in spray form that helps refresh and care for the skin. Suitable as an additional treatment for dehydrated and dull skin. This product is a spray rather than a traditional cream mask.
Post-Peel Glacier Mask
An intensively hydrating and soothing mask for skin requiring additional comfort after exfoliation or a peel. Also suitable when the skin feels tight or sensitive.
Ultim-Eyes Cream
A hydrating age-supporting eye cream for the delicate eye contour. Use a dedicated eye product rather than a regular face cream or strong active serum around the eyes.
All Day Shield SPF 50
Daily sun protection helps protect the skin against UV exposure and further moisture loss. SPF is particularly important when using retinol, activators, acids and peels.
Morning routine for dehydrated skin
- Cleanse with a gentle Ekseption cleanser.
- Apply a hydrating toner or mist if desired.
- Use Hyaluronic B5, Hyaluronic Ectoin or Skin Relief Fluid.
- Apply Hydration Sparkle, Age-Less Cocoon or another suitable moisturiser.
- Use Ultim-Eyes Cream around the eyes.
- Finish with All Day Shield SPF 50.
Evening routine
- Remove make-up and sunscreen with a gentle cleanser.
- Use lukewarm water and carefully pat the skin dry.
- Apply a hydrating serum while the skin is still slightly damp.
- Finish with a moisturiser suited to the skin type.
- Use Caviar Liquid Mask or Post-Peel Glacier Mask when additional hydration is required.
Which products combine well?
• Hyaluronic B5 with Hydration Sparkle.
• Hyaluronic Ectoin with Skin Relief Fluid or a gentle maintenance cream.
• Hyaluronic B5 with Age-Less Cocoon for normal to dry skin.
• Caviar Liquid Mask for additional hydration.
• Post-Peel Glacier Mask on recovery evenings.
• A hydrating serum with All Day Shield SPF 50 in the morning.
For oily, dehydrated skin, select a lightweight serum and non-comedogenic moisturiser. Dry, dehydrated skin usually requires a richer cream to limit moisture loss.
Which products require extra care?
When the skin feels tight, sore or sensitive, temporarily reduce the use of:
• Super Retinol Fluid.
• Super Salicylic Fluid.
• Ferulic Activator.
• Pure Skin Activator.
• PHA Activator.
• Triple Acid Peeling Mask.
• Salicylic Powder Cleanse & Peel.
• Black Powder Cleanse & Peel.
• Other intensive peels or scrubs.
Do not use several exfoliating products within the same routine. Alternate active evenings with hydrating and restorative evenings.
Tips for dehydrated skin
• Cleanse no more than twice daily.
• Use lukewarm rather than hot water.
• Apply serum to slightly damp skin.
• Always follow a hydrating serum with a moisturiser.
• Apply sunscreen every day.
• Reduce strong acids and retinol when the skin feels tight.
• Choose a richer cream for dry skin and a lighter texture for oily skin.
• Provide additional protection against cold weather and dry indoor heating.
What can you expect?
A consistent hydrating routine can make the skin feel more supple, smooth and comfortable. Dehydration lines and dullness may become less noticeable. If the skin remains itchy, cracked, flaky or inflamed despite gentle care, consult a doctor or dermatologist.
